Lutherans believe that the Bible is the source of all divine knowledge. Scripture is the formal principle of Lutherans and is the final authority for all matters of faith and doctrine.
Lutheranism was started by the 16th century German reformer Martin Luther. Lutheranism teaches "by grace alone through faith alone because of Christ alone." Which varied from the Roman Catholic Church's views at that time of "faith formed by love" or "faith and works". This difference caused a huge split of Lutherans and the Catholic Church. The Bible, to Lutherans contains two distinct types of content. They are Law and Gospel (the gospel is sometimes called Promises). Properly distinguishing between Law and Gospel does not hinder the Gospel teaching of justification by grace through faith alone from being clouded. To Lutherans everyone is damned until they are saved by God's grace. I'm sure there is more to the Lutheran religion but this is what I could come up with through research. feel free to add to it. Lutherans are known for their music and hymns in their services as Martin Luther wrote several himself. |

I am a Lutheran, and I can tell you this much. Someone recently asked me "When were you saved?". Well, I was saved when Jesus died on the cross. There is nothing I can do as a human to obtain salvation. Salvation is through God alone. God asks that I believe. I believe, and God does the rest. The bridge between God and us is Jesus Christ. I live by Word Alone, Grace Alone, and Faith Alone.
Peace Unto You |
